Greyhound customers can now pay with cash at over 32,000 retail locations nationwide

DALLAS, March 3, 2022 -- Greyhound, the largest provider of intercity bus transportation in North America, today announced they have expanded their partnership with Pay Near Me. Through this partnership, customers can schedule trips at Greyhound.com or in Greyhound's mobile app, reserve tickets and find a retail location near them to complete their purchase using cash. With this expansion, customers now have over 32,000 national retail locations to choose from, including Walmart, CVS, 7-Eleven, ACE Cash Express, Family Dollar and Casey's.

While the brand has always accepted cash payments at its bus terminals, cash booking has not been available at its curbside and bus stop only locations. With this expansion, customers in communities with curbside and bus stop locations will now be able to pay with cash at the newly added retailers, expanding access to Greyhound's nationwide network.

"Our mission at Greyhound is to make travel easy, convenient and affordable. We want to ensure our services are accessible to everyone, and that includes the payment options we offer," said Todd Koch, Vice President Strategy, Marketing and Customer Engagement, Greyhound Lines, Inc. "Partnering with national retailers compliments our national network and, with this expansion, we are making it easier for customers who may prefer to pay with cash to complete their transactions."

In addition to paying with cash, Greyhound also accepts all major credit and debit cards when booking tickets at Greyhound.com, in the Greyhound mobile app or at a Greyhound station. Once onboard, customers can enjoy free onboard entertainment and WIFI, roomy seating and power outlets for their devices.

Greyhound and the National Runaway Safeline Offer Runaway Youth Free Bus Tickets Home During the Holidays

Greyhound and the National Runaway Safeline Offer Runaway Youth Free Bus Tickets Home During the Holidays

DALLAS, Dec. 20, 2021 -- Greyhound, the largest provider of intercity bus transportation in North America, is providing vital transportation this holiday season with its long-standing 'Home Free' program, helping runaway, homeless, and exploited youth between the ages of 12 and 21 reunite with their families (or legal guardians) through a free bus ticket home or to a stable and safe place. 2021 marks the 34th consecutive year Greyhound has provided the free program, demonstrating its commitment to serve communities nationwide.

"Every year, through our Home Free program, we help young people in need receive a free ride home," said Dave Leach, President and Chief Executive Officer, Greyhound Lines, Inc. "I am both humbled and thrilled to be a part of the Greyhound team committed to providing young people the chance to reconnect with their families and return to a safe environment. It is our hope that the resources we provide runaway youth will bring comfort to those looking to safely reunite with their families."

To extend the program and provide this service on a greater scale, Greyhound has partnered with the National Runaway Safeline (NRS) since 1995. NRS, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, is an organization that helps keep runaway and homeless youth safe.

According to the Voices of Youth Count from researchers at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, nearly 4.2 million youth experience some form of homelessness each year in America, leaving them at risk for exploitation, assault, illness and suicide. Home Free is designed to help make sure runaway young people between the ages of 12 and 21 have a ticket to get back home to their families or safe legal guardians.

In 2020, nearly 325 free bus tickets were provided to young people looking to be reconnected with their families. So far in 2021, Greyhound and the NRS have provided more than 230 free bus tickets, valued at nearly $42,000.

"The Home Free partnership between Greyhound and NRS continues to have a positive impact in providing a vital resource in helping address and resolve the growing number of homeless and exploited young people," said Susan Frankel, Chief Executive Officer, National Runaway Safeline. "We are honored to be able to continue our partnership with Greyhound Lines and look forward to serving as their charitable partner for the Home Free program for many more years."

Greyhound Honors Frontline Heroes and First Responders with Free Holiday Travel

As the largest provider of intercity bus transportation in North America for over a century, Greyhound has played an integral part in providing transportation during times of crisis. In April of 2020, Greyhound launched, ‘Rides for Responders,’ a program that provides free transportation for medical personnel and first responders traveling for work during the COVID-19 pandemic. With first responders and frontline workers providing over 18 months of critical care across the country, Greyhound is once again providing free travel to essential personnel, but instead of work travel assistance, the company is giving away free tickets to any of their 1,700 destinations for the holidays.

“We are so thankful for the sacrifices made over the past two years by our frontline workers, first responders and their families. We want to continue to share our gratitude with them as they are able to start traveling again to see friends and family, or go on vacation,” said Rob Friedman, Chief Commercial Officer, Greyhound Lines, Inc. “Providing free transportation is our way of giving back as our heroes deserve a much-needed break.”

This offer ‘provides one free round-trip ticket to any doctor, nurse, paramedic, EMT, medical technician, firefighter, member of law enforcement or mortician that previously utilized the program for work travel since April of 2020 through October 15, 2021. Those eligible will receive an email from Greyhound with instructions on how to redeem their ticket. Tickets are available for booking now.
