+++ Regional VP Evan Burak joins advisory committee focused on training frontline transportation workers to recognize and respond to trafficking
DALLAS (October 5, 2026) — Greyhound, a Flix North America brand and the largest provider of intercity bus service in the United States, today announced that senior regional vice president Evan Burak has been appointed by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean P. Duffy to the Training and Awareness Subcommittee of the U.S. Department of Transportation's Advisory Committee on Human Trafficking (ACHT).
Human trafficking remains a significant challenge across the transportation industry. As Greyhound's representative on the committee, Burak will help develop recommendations, best practices, and training approaches to help frontline transportation workers recognize and respond to potential trafficking situations.

"It's an honor to represent the motorcoach industry in this important work," said Burak. "Transportation employees are often in a unique position to observe and report signs that something may be wrong. By equipping frontline workers with the right training, awareness and resources, we can help identify potential trafficking situations and connect people with help. I'm grateful for the opportunity to bring Greyhound's experience and perspective to these efforts."
Burak's appointment builds on Greyhound's longstanding commitment to helping protect vulnerable individuals and combat human trafficking. For more than 30 years, Greyhound's Home Free partnership with the National Runaway Safeline has provided free transportation to nearly 20,000 runaway, homeless, and exploited youth, helping reunite them with family members or connect them with a safe living arrangement.
"Human trafficking cannot be addressed by any one organization alone," said Rodney Surber, Chief Operating Officer of Greyhound. "It requires collaboration across the transportation industry, law enforcement, and government partners. Greyhound has long been committed to doing its part, and Evan's appointment provides an opportunity to bring the insights we've gained from operating the nation's largest intercity bus network to the federal level. We're proud to contribute our experience to efforts that strengthen training, awareness, and coordination across the transportation sector."
The ACHT advises the Secretary of Transportation on strategies to combat human trafficking across the transportation sector, including recommendations on training, awareness, industry best practices, and other measures designed to strengthen prevention and response efforts.
Based in Dallas, Burak brings more than 15 years of transportation leadership experience to the role. As Senior Regional Vice President for Greyhound's Southeast region, he works closely with federal, state, and local partners to strengthen safety, improve operational performance and support public safety initiatives throughout the transportation industry.
