+++ Joining NRS board, Soares advances Greyhound’s three-decade support for youth in crisis

DALLAS (September 4, 2025) — Greyhound, a subsidiary of Flix North America, announced today that José Soares, Head of Sales and Agencies at Flix North America, has joined the Board of the National Runaway Safeline (NRS), a nonprofit that provides crisis support and resources to runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth. In this role, Soares will help guide the organization’s strategy, governance, and overall direction. He will also work to strengthen the long-standing partnership between Greyhound and NRS, including the Home Free program, which has reunited at-risk youth with their families or a safe, stable environment through free bus tickets since 1995.

Soares has been with Flix since 2019 and currently serves as the Head of Sales and Agencies for Flix North America. His addition to the Board of the National Runaway Safeline (NRS) will bolster the long-standing partnership between Greyhound and NRS.

Soares is a seasoned business leader with more than 15 years of experience in sales, partnerships, and go-to-market strategy across mobility, real estate, retail, and government sectors. Outside of his professional work, he supports initiatives that expand access and opportunity for underserved communities, reflecting his belief that leadership extends beyond business impact.

“I’m honored to join the National Runaway Safeline board and contribute to their vital work keeping America’s runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth safe and off the streets,” said José Soares, Head of Sales and Agencies at Flix North America. “Greyhound’s long-standing partnership with NRS and the Home Free program shows how practical solutions, like a simple bus ticket, can help young people reconnect with their families or reach a safe environment. Supporting this mission aligns with both my professional and personal values, ensuring everyone has the tools they need to find their way forward.”

“NRS is pleased to welcome José Soares to our Board of Directors,” said Amanda Whitlock, Chief Executive Officer of National Runaway Safeline. “For 30 years, our Home Free partnership with Greyhound has helped youth safely return home or access supportive living environments. José’s leadership will enhance our efforts to protect runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth nationwide.”

The Home Free program provides free bus tickets to help runaway, homeless, and exploited youth between the ages of 12 and 21 reunite with their families or legal guardians. The program was originally launched by Greyhound in 1987 to demonstrate its commitment to serving communities nationwide. In 1995, Greyhound partnered with NRS to expand the program’s reach and effectiveness. Since then, the partnership has helped approximately 20,000 families, and in 2024 alone, nearly 900 bus tickets were provided to youth in need. Leveraging Greyhound’s extensive national network, Home Free plays a vital role in reconnecting youth with families and care providers, particularly in communities with limited transportation options.
