CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (August 19, 2025) — Flix North America, the parent company of Greyhound and FlixBus, announced today that it is partnering with the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Integrated Mobility Division and Chapel Hill Transit — a department of the Town of Chapel Hill, to launch intercity bus service in Chapel Hill, increasing travel options for residents, students, and visitors.

The expansion brings a total of four daily trips to the town, offering new connections to destinations across North Carolina and beyond. Greyhound partnered with NCDOT to launch two new trips on Aug. 1 that connect Chapel Hill to Asheville, Raleigh, and communities throughout the state. On Aug. 28, Greyhound and FlixBus will launch two additional trips, running daily and five times weekly respectively, marking the first FlixBus service in Chapel Hill.

“Relaunching intercity bus service in Chapel Hill will make it easier than ever for UNC students, faculty, staff, and town residents to travel across North Carolina and beyond,” said Karina Frayter, head of communications at Flix North America. “Reliable, affordable, and convenient transportation is a gateway to education, jobs, and essential services — and we’re proud to help expand those opportunities for the Chapel Hill community.”

Passengers will board at the Eubanks Road Park and Ride Lot, located at 1768 Eubanks Road in Chapel Hill, with schedules designed to provide convenient connections to regional and national destinations, including Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Raleigh, Richmond, Washington, D.C., and New York City.

“NCDOT understands the importance of affordable, flexible, and reliable transportation for everyone and NCDOT’s intercity bus service plays a vital role of connecting communities of all sizes,” said NCDOT Integrated Mobility Division (IMD) Director, Brennon Fuqua.

The new stop comes at a time when Chapel Hill is welcoming thousands of students back to campus for the fall semester, further enhancing connectivity for the UNC community.

“We’re excited to share our Eubanks Park and Ride stop with FlixBus and Greyhound and partner with the NCDOT to improve access to intercity bus services,” said Brian Litchfield, Chapel Hill Transit’s Director. “By integrating our stop into their network, it gives Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and the UNC-Chapel Hill communities more ways to stay connected throughout the state and larger region. This partnership underscores our commitment to supporting affordable, sustainable, and convenient transportation solutions that benefit our residents and the broader region.”

Flix North America, through Greyhound and FlixBus, offers the most extensive intercity bus network in the U.S., connecting over 1,600 destinations across North America.
