+++ Ribbon cutting event on Oct. 17 in Farmington
SANTA FE (October 14, 2025) – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and Greyhound, a Flix North America brand and the nation’s largest provider of intercity bus transportation, announce the launch of new intercity bus services for New Mexico.
The need for the route was identified in the Statewide Public Transportation Plan and will run between Albuquerque, Farmington, Bernalillo, Cuba and into Durango, CO.
The new service line will run five days a week, with one round trip each day, providing access to Navajo Transit and Red Apple Transit in Farmington.
“We are proud to partner with Greyhound to provide this link between Farmington and Albuquerque and to connect with Red Apple Transit and Navajo Transit, our local partners in the New Mexico public transportation network,” said NMDOT Secretary Ricky Serna. “Affordable public transportation along long-distance corridors are essential to connect our communities and expand travel options.”
To celebrate the launch of this new route, a ribbon cutting event with local stakeholders and the media will be held on Friday, Oct. 17 at 9:30 a.m. at Animas Valley Mall, 4601 E Main St., Farmington.
“There are very limited transportation options for individuals that live in these areas of the state, if they don’t have a vehicle, family or friends to transport them for medical appointments or quality of life services,” said Kevin Olinger, NMDOT Transit and Rail Division Director.
“Connecting communities is at the heart of Greyhound’s mission,” said Kai Boysan, CEO of Flix North America, the parent company of Greyhound. “Our partnership with the NMDOT strengthens regional connectivity and makes it easier for New Mexico residents to access economic opportunities, education, and essential services. Intercity buses play a vital role, especially in rural areas, offering an affordable and reliable alternative to driving or flying for those with limited transportation options. We look forward to serving local communities and making long-distance travel more accessible and convenient across the Southwest.”
